THE WEDDING WEBSITE TREND

With the explosion of social media, so much of our lives are online these days. There’s no surprise to hear that it’s become popular to also use the internet to share information about weddings.  Many magazines and wedding bloggers are positive about the use of wedding websites. You can set up an online hub with details about the day, photos of the wedding party and more about you as a couple.

While this may be great for some, other’s may not be as keen to put their plans out there in this way. Like with all wedding trends, it’s OK to pick whatever’s right for you as a couple, and not feel you have to do something just because everyone else is.

BENEFITS OF A WEDDING WEBSITE

1. ALL INFORMATION IN ONE PLACE

Many modern wedding invitations have a lot of information attached – recommended accommodation, where to park, key timings, gift list, dress code… etc. A website is one way of keeping all those details in one place for guests to reference in the lead up to the big day.

2. YOU CAN UPDATE THE INFORMATION

If any of your plans change, it’s relatively easy to update the details. Many website builders will allow you to change the wording and add extra pages. You would probably still have to let your guests know there’s been a change as there’s no guarantee they’ll be checking your website.

3. SHARE MORE ABOUT YOUR UNIQUE LOVE STORY

With several pages available on a website, you can be more personal with the information you share. You could add photos from some of your favourite memories together and tell the story of how you met.

4. GUESTS CAN VIRTUALLY MEET IN ADVANCE

Some wedding websites allow your guests to login and connect with other guests. They can arrange to stay in the same hotel, share taxis and get to know each other online before the event. This could be handy for your friends and family that are travelling a long distance to be there.

Bride Tips

Incorporate your wedding colors and the general vibe of your wedding into the details of your invitation, just as you would with a traditional invitation.

5. LOWER COST

Clearly, this can make a big difference for brides on a budget or for brides who would rather invest their money elsewhere (like, say, an open bar).

6. LESS HASLE

If you go digital, you're going to be saving a lot of time. Just think: no licking envelopes, no adhering rhinestones, no writing addresses in your best cursive until your hand cramps...the actual act of getting wedding invitations ready to mail out can be incredibly time-consuming, and when you already have a wedding checklist a mile long, anything you can do to save time is amazing.

7. NO TREES WILL BE HARMED

Eco-conscious brides can rest easy knowing their wedding invitations did not waste any paper whatsoever.

8. RSVPs ARE EASY-BREEZY

With an online invitation service, RSVP-ing has never been so simple—for both the bride and the guests. Rather than having everyone fill out an RSVP card and mail it back, your guests will be directed to your wedding website where they can immediately check yes or no.
